I saw Kimie’ wearing this t-shirt at Hōkūleʻa’s homecoming and I had it in my online shopping cart that night. Salvage Public, a local Hawaiʻi brand makes the state motto shirt among other slogan and iconography clothing on the softest cotton in unisex sizes. Being that Hawaiʻi ’78 is one of my all-time favorite songs, it seems fitting that this top is now in my wardrobe. I paired it with comfy denim shorts, my new white converse, and the old Kate Spade bag about which I won’t stop yapping for an everyday look. Now if I want to go full aunty, I’ll chuck my hair into one of those tita buns that make my mom go, “what’s that bubble on your head?“, add my long koa earrings, and go barefoot!
