When I’m not shopping for the perfect dress to wear at each of my family’s holiday celebrations, I’m brainstorming ideas to incorporate in my festive makeup look. I try to, when at all possible, wear the same makeup with every holiday outfit because I love being cohesive and also get too easily frustrated to experiment with unique eyeshadows or lip stains. This season, I’m styling a different outfit with my new golden Loeffler Randall shoes that are truly the most beautiful pieces of footwear I’ve ever seen, so my festive makeup look has to also include the same (or a similar shade of) gold. In order to achieve this look that’s perfect for my pre-birthday, birthday, Christmas eve, and Christmas, I reached for my favorite ever Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Palette (old, from last year) that contains every eyeshadow shade I could ever want or need for a sparkly, Christmas-y makeup. I started by priming my lids with the NYX Proof It! Eyeshadow Primer, which is an exact dupe of the NARS Pro-Prime for a fraction of the cost. I swept Anastasia’s Fresh all over my lids and then began blending Twig into my crease to establish a gradient effect. A combination of Dystopian and Noir blended slightly above my crease deepened the look and made it more dramatic. Once I was satisfied with the gradual smokiness, I packed Steampunk on top of my lid in multiple layers. Because every festive makeup look requires sparkle, I applied the NYX Glitter Goals Liquid Eyeshadow in Industrial Beam directly on top of Steampunk. I finished the eye look with multiple coats of my favorite L’Oréal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara until my lashes were thick and clumpy. After my eyes were finished, I applied the rest of my face makeup as usual (IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Medium, Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer in 40NY, Glossier Wowder in Light, The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 03, and NARS Orgasm Blush) and coated my lips in the most beautiful Dolce Vita NARS Lipstick.
