The Drugstore Curl Refresher Products I Use Most

My favorite curl refresher products

I haven’t written about my hair in a while (since January, to be exact!) because I haven’t switched anything in my routine or tried out many new products. My hair is both my favorite physical feature and the bane of my existence (I often feel hate more than love can’t you tell?) and I need a lot of patience and perseverance to get through wash days. I’m lucky that I’m gradually learning what products and techniques my hair actually thrives on so I don’t wind up with the frizzy waves I used to be satisfied with years ago. I’m still doing the wash day routine I wrote about last year: “To try and rule out the outlaws, I went back to the Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk Defining Cream and Frizz Control Sculpting Gel. I applied both products in sections on soaking wet hair and brushed through with my Denman brush to evenly distribute. After brushing, I shook out the small clumps so they could find their natural curl pattern. I flipped my hair over and scrunched as much as possible until the curls started to take shape. It’s important to not over-scrunch though, as that’s when frizz begins to form, and we’re looking to achieve the least frizzy ringlets.” In order to extend my wash days though, I need a fantastic curl refresher that won’t be crunchy or weigh my hair down. It’s hard to maintain semi frizz-free waves and ringlets without adding too much product, but the Aussie Miracle Curls Curl Refresher Spray (I wrote about it here) and the OGX Coconut Miracle Oil are products I apply liberally over the lengths of my hair on days two, three, and four. I love these individually because they hold my curl pattern and tame flyaways to ensure that all of my post washdays are styled well and last longer!
