Every year, I force my best friends to join me on the 21st for my pre-birthday celebrations that usually feature us eating dinner and then going to see the Honolulu City Lights. This year, however, was extremely different and was also the best pre-birthday celebration ever! The photos above do not at all accurately represent the events of my party that ended with me sleeping in my makeup at 4:30 a.m (after being taken care of by my boys). I started with a basic plan for my pre-birthday celebration that especially highlighted our dinner at Minori Craft Japanese Tavern and post-dinner drinks at The Tchin-Tchin! Bar in Chinatown. I obviously invited the entirety of my goon squad including Brandon, Kaiʻolu, Mikayla, Parker, and our newest pal, my best cousin Conor. We ate kakuni (my absolute favorite), vegetable tempura, agedashi tofu, charbroiled harami, salmon, chicken nanban, and the polar bear shave ice before we almost rolled out of the restaurant with our buttons down and dignities gone. After we sufficiently stuffed our faces, we headed to Tchin-Tchin! and drank a couple of shots and cocktails before my other cousin Christian and his partner joined us. By the time we had drank all our real cocktails, they invited us to go dancing at Scarlett nearby and we went! I said yes even though I was terrified of big crowd settings, but it was the very best time ever. I actually danced for the first time in my life and the drinks kept coming and we left at 2 am super drunk but the happiest ever (as are most drunks)! Parker, Brandon, Conor, and I went back to Conor’s apartment because Parker wanted to do karaoke and the first two brought me back home where I was safe and sound. I may have woken up on my actual birthday feeling the most sick, but it was the best pre-birthday celebration I could have ever asked for!
