Those who have been in my life for a while know that my sleeping schedule is one of the most f*cked up parts of me as I spend most of my days napping and nights awake until dawn. This messy process of me sleeping in late, taking a 4+ hour nap, and then staying up through the next morning has plagued my life since I was in marching band in high school. I would stay at school until 10:30 p.m. and work on homework until 2 a.m. before sleeping for the next four hours. Although I complained about my busy schedule and extreme amounts of homework in high school, nothing could have prepared me for the work balance I’ve had to manage throughout college, hence my zombie-like daily existence. Because I don’t have my mom to help me wake up each morning, I’ve succumbed to my exhaustion more times than I should and my grades have suffered for it. I only have a full month left of classes in undergrad, so I’m trying to put my best foot forward (better late than never huh?) and it seems like now is the best time to test out new ways to wake up. My main tool I’m using is the Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock that features a super shaker bed vibrator, flashing lights, and a loud ass alarm ringer, which will hopefully do its job and wake me up out of my deep slumber. My main issue (besides my going to bed at 4 a.m.) is that I’m the heaviest sleeper and nothing seems to help me wake up. Fun side story: when I was nine, there was a real bomb in a car in my apartment parking lot and we all had to evacuate and I fell asleep in our neighbor’s house while the bomb squad was detonating it! For the next 22 class days, I’m hoping that I’ll wake up on time and not sleep through my alarms until 3 p.m.! If anyone has any other suggestions of how I can wake my body up without going to sleep early, please let me know!
