I used to spend outrageous amounts of money on new makeup and skincare products at Sephora when I was in high school. I truly can’t believe how many dollars I threw at foundations (in the wrong shade) and eyeshadow palettes (I still use these!) when I still didn’t know how to properly paint my face. Despite all of my beauty mishaps, I’m still utilizing the money I gave Sephora by spending my beauty insider points on beauty minis I want to test out. Beauty minis are wonderful because they allow me to try different products that I would otherwise overlook. In a perfect world, it wouldn’t cost 100 points (the equivalent of $100) to try individual 5-15 mL samples, but hey, this is capitalism isn’t it? Glow Recipe is a brand I’ve marveled at since they hit the Sephora shelves due to their affordable, luxurious Korean beauty base and the colorful minimalist packaging. I love anything watermelon, so I was especially drawn to their watermelon glow line. The two product samples I picked up from Glow Recipe are their Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer and Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask. The moisturizer is brightening and uses antioxidants to target dryness and redness while the sleeping mask is lightweight and filled with hydrating watermelon extract, hyaluronic acid, AHA, and peony root. Sunday Riley’s Good Genes is a product I’ve been wanting to try since I saw Lisa Eldridge (my most beloved makeup artist) rave about the skincare item back in 2013, so I was ecstatic to see it in a line of beauty minis. Good Genes is a lactic acid treatment that focuses on smoothing and retouching dark spots. Even though the sample is good for only the smallest use and a few applications, it’s better than spending a whopping $158 on the full bottle! The Instant Detox Mask from Caudalie is one of the beauty minis that I’m unsure about. I love any type of detoxing product, but the fragrance in this tube is so strong that it left me lightheaded and my skin itchy. However, I did notice my pores were cleaner and tighter after one use, so I’ll try it out once more and make my final decision!
