Ah, Akasaka. This is hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants in Hawaii and reminded me of my amazing trip to Japan filled with delicious food. The restaurant is located on 1646 Kona St, Honolulu, HI 96814 and is a tiny hole in the wall eatery near Ala Moana. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly and caters to the customers’ every need. Their most popular dish is the Scallop Butteryaki and for good reason. The scallops are absolutely amazing and are served on a hot platter with sauce poured over. They make customized sushi platters that are covered with gorgeous pieces of fish and are delicious. For the first time in my life I loved a sushi with fish on top (unagi)! I ate the chicken teriyaki (which is what I eat at every Japanese restaurant) and I must admit that Akasaka’s is my favorite so far. The chicken is breaded perfectly and the sauce is light and flavorful. They also serve a delicious beef teriyaki that comes with full pieces of thick steak in a teri sauce. Each teishoku dish is served with miso soup, salad, rice, and tsukemono for a decent price. If you’re in the mood for fabulous Japanese food and sushi in town, look no further than Akasaka!
