New York Day Two

We didn’t exactly hit the ground running on day two in NYC as Brandon, Parker, and I all woke up after 11 am, so our “morning” started with brunch at Mom’s in Midtown. I highly recommend brunch for any day where you want to justify a $20 morning meal with the argument that it’s both breakfast and lunch so you’re actually saving money! That’s what I tell myself at least. I ate the Tex-Benedict, which consisted of fork tender brisket chunks, soft poached eggs, Texas toast, BBQ aioli, and coleslaw; Brandon had mac & cheese pancakes, which tasted exactly how you’d expect (AMAZING), and Parker chose the rib eye steak and eggs with yellow and sweet potatoes! Everything was delicious and we barely rolled ourselves out of the restaurant to go shopping. We opted for a leisurely stroll through the main streets of SoHo and picked up a few macarons from Ladurée on the walk (did I say we were full before?). I convinced the boys to travel to the very bottom of the city to ride the Seaglass Carousel with me so I could pretend to be Liza from Younger for just five minutes and it was definitely worth it! On the subway ride back from Battery Park, we stopped at the Oculus before I buzzed around Strand Bookstore like a frickin moth to a lantern because damn that is the most incredible store I’ve ever been in (I obviously picked up a few poetry books and fun pins for my denim jacket)! We ate dinner at Osteria Morini where I had the tagliatelle with bolognese, Parker had the cappeletti with truffle and prosciutto, and Brandon ordered the torcia squid ink pasta with shrimp ragù. After disappointments at three different ice cream places, we ended up at Stuffed Ice Cream so Brandon and I could eat their ice cream-filled donuts. I opted for the glazed donut with nutella ice cream and rainbow sprinkles. Now I can sleep for the next four hours before the Macy’s Day Parade and another day full of food! My Planet Fitness membership is mocking me hard right now…
