For as long as I can remember, fashion has been a integral part of my life. Sketching clothing and accessories (although the drawings were quite bad), styling outfits, and modeling my ‘masterpieces’ around the house has been a reoccurring scene from the time I was a little girl. As I’ve grown up, however, I discovered the importance of having a ‘style uniform’ of pieces that I can throw together without thinking about it.
Denim is key in my uniform wardrobe. I absolutely love jeans and wear them almost every single day. I have a few favorite pairs from J Brand, Topshop, and J.Crew. Finding a pair of jeans that fit perfectly and wear well is extremely important to me. Although it can seem like a chore to try on multiple pairs of jeans in different washes, styles, and sizes, it’s all worth it when you find the one. In my case, I usually gravitate toward skinny denim in a true blue wash that can be paired with any blouse or tee. Denim is the staple piece in my wardrobe upon which I can build.
I love having a mixture of dressy blouses and comfortable basic tees to wear with my jeans or skirts. Lace accents, soft cotton, and thin fabrics are some of my favorite details on a top. These tops are some of my favorite from J.Crew, Vince, and Joie. I’ve always been drawn toward camisoles and I’ve learned to balance them out with a lightweight sweater or jacket. My mom purchased a tweed jacket for me from J.Crew that I’ve worn consistently with almost every outfit! Having a classic neutral piece of outerwear can do wonders for an otherwise plain outfit. Some of my other favorite jackets are from Zara, Topshop, and T by Alexander Wang.
I hope this post helps you to find your personal uniform and shows you how to have fun with your style!
