My second favorite time of the year is here (after football season of course)! March signals the start of spring and the NCAA March Madness. In March, collegiate basketball teams will participate in conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament starting on the 14th. Once the committee selects each team’s placement, they play the teams in their bracket group in a specific round. The NCAA’s website has a more in depth look into the tournament process here. March Madness is so popular among sports fans because each round is fair game. The No. 1 seeded team could go against No. 16 and lose easily. Many No. 1’s go down in the first round and the underdogs take the lead of the tourney. Since 2010, Baylor men’s basketball has made it to two Elite Eights, one Sweet Sixteen and two second round runs. Although their stints in the past two years has gone short, I’m expecting a phenomenal attempt in 2017 with the likes of Johnathan Motley and Manu Lecomte. The Bears will begin the Big 12 tournament next week and will hopefully add wins to their record before meeting non conference opponents in the NCAA tourney. This is March and this is the most exciting basketball you’ll ever see!
