Looking Pretty After Gym!

For people like me, PE class is like torture. I’m not fond of sweating or being physically active, so PE is like all of my least favorite things rolled into one period! After class is done you are left looking sweaty, stinky, tomato-faced, and with oily hair (the worst things ever). Having a short amount of time to shower, change, and beautify yourself while managing to get to class on time is also another trial. Here are some tips and tricks to looking your best after PE!

Drink water! (30 seconds)

Keeping your body hydrated after a vigorous workout is my number 1 tip. Producing sweat makes your body lose water while it tries to keep you cool, so you need to be drinking water. A cute water bottle is always helpful! Water is not only the most hydrating and healthy drink, but it’s a good way to trick your body into feeling full so that you don’t down unhealthy snacks post-workout.

Take a quick shower (3 minutes)

After you run and sweat in PE, you absolutely need to take a shower. PE makes your hair and body feel gross and oily. Using a clarifying shampoo and a hydrating conditioner are good for dirty hair! Also make sure to wash your body well with a sweet smelling shower gel.

Wash your face using a gentle cleanser (1 minute)

If you don’t have time to do anything else, this would be the best thing to do after PE. Your pores and glands are mass producing oil on your face and body, which can often lead to bacteria and acne. You can use a gentle cleanser to remove any traces of dirt or bacteria that can clog your pores later on. The cool water will also reduce any “tomato-face”, which is a very unattractive look!

Moisturize (30 seconds)

After you wash your face, you have to make sure that you’re using a lightweight moisturizer. Face washes typically strip the skin of some of its natural hydration, so putting on a nice moisturizer will help the skin to be clean and supple.

Apply a Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream (1 minute)

I wouldn’t recommend using a foundation after you exercise because the thickness can tend to clog your clean pores. A lightweight sheer tint of color will help to even out any blotchiness or blemishes. Apply the liquid using your fingers for the most quick and natural look. If needed, you can always spot apply concealer if you need any extra coverage. Make sure to add a light dusting of translucent powder!

Pop on a sheer bright lip color (1 minute)

Nowadays, most makeup brands include lip butters and tinted lip balms into their collections. Since red is my favorite lip color, I tend to use the Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon because it really brightens up my face and makes me look healthy. Apply a sheer wash of the color to your lips to add a fun touch to your “no makeup makeup look”.

Add a fun cheek color (1 minute)

Using the lip color from before, apply that to the apples of your cheeks for a natural, flushed look. Because you will be using a lip balm or lip butter, it will give your cheeks a healthy glowing look rather than using a powder blush. You could also use a lip and cheek convertible product.

Pull your hair into a side braid (2 minutes)

Because there is no time to blow dry or style your hair, tying it into a side braid is chic and effortless. It adds a sort of “girl next door” look especially if you pull a few strands out. The look is beachy and fun! After your hair is air dried, you can undo the braid and be left with piecy waves!
