Little

I attempted an ekphrastic poem for my creative writing poetry class- a piece which verbally describes a scene or a work of art. My professor tasked us with finding a painting, image, or sculpture we liked and respond to it through written language. This poem was the hardest one to write for me as I couldn’t find the right words to illustrate the image above. Malcolm X is a leader I’ve found so interesting and unique ever since my favorite high school English teacher, Laz, had us read his autobiography. I wanted to write this piece about him in relation to the soft image highlighting his happier, lighter side. Even though it took me about three hours to craft this draft, I’m extremely satisfied with how it turned out. Please let me know what you think!
