Layering Neutrals for A Cold Office

Layering neutrals for the office

When I started my new job back in August, one of the most thrilling parts of working for the company was learning that I would only have to go in to the office once a week (for the time being)! I dreamed of remote work throughout the pandemic when I had to go to the office every single day despite the prevalence of COVID in Hawaiʻi and in my workplace specifically. Working from home over the last four months brought me a freedom I craved and love! When I do go to work in person (still once a week, thankfully), I drag myself out of bed with only my excitement of dressing up for the day as motivation. I love dressing up on the regular, and working in a fancier office allows me to style more pieces as I’ve learned how to combine items I wouldn’t have in the past. For this look, I focused on layering neutrals to keep me warm in the frigid office temperatures. I’ve always wanted to wear my blue knit Zara vest but didn’t know how or with what. Cheaper knits can sometimes be scratchy and my office is truly cold, so I wore a thin black turtleneck underneath to stop my mouth from chittering while looking cute. To keep the rest of the outfit in the same color and tone palette of layering neutrals, I tucked the two tops into my wide leg trousers sealed with a basic black leather belt. I raved about these Uniqlo pants in a dedicated post last month where I wrote, “It’s been extremely difficult to find wide leg trousers that fit a short body like mine and are within my price range (aka not from Aritzia, though I’m captivated by their Effortless pant!!) and these Uniqlo Wide-Fit Pleated Pants are exactly what I was searching for! The Uniqlo pants can be altered online (which I had done) for an extra $6 or in person for free and they hit at the exact right spot in my midsection. I sized down for my khaki and gray pairs so as not to have that balloon pant look and I think the fit is the perfect amount of oversized! The pants have a bit of stretch so they don’t feel like hard crepe and I love a belt loop to add extra accessory to my waistline. For only $50, I don’t think there’s a better high waisted wide leg trouser on the market!” I finished my layering neutrals look with the perfect shiny black J.Crew loafers I purchased brand new in its box from Poshmark for only $25! I love a cute and affordable outfit!
