Zara dress (old), Boden sweater via Savers, Kate Spade scarf (old, similar here), Amazon socks, Steve Madden shoes
In my last outfit post (read it here), I wrote about how much I love dressing up for work since I go into the office once a week. Whereas I used to mostly wear tiny dresses and tops with jeans at my old office (the dress code was very casual, okay?), I try to maintain a slightly more professional style when I go to my new workplace—although my dresses are definitely not always knee length; see above. One of my main fashion goals since I discovered creators like Carla Rockmore, @lizzie.mov, and Kate of @readwritethrift is to layer my clothing items as often as possible to create brand new-to-me looks. I used to wear dresses as they were and for a while, Brandy Melville tees were paired with mid-wash blue jeans for my every day outfits. I didn’t have a real style that felt like me until I started combining my pieces like I did with this look of layered pastels! I never knew I could love knit turtleneck dresses before I found this Zara one (and another pink sleeveless one), which is absolutely perfect for styling under and over other clothing items in my closet (remember when I wore my yellow cropped turtleneck top over the dress?). I thought it would be the best base for a layered pastels look, especially when worn underneath this darling frilly Boden sweater I got from Savers for only—can you even believe it—$5!! Boden has quickly become one of my favorite brands as it’s full of incredibly girly and colorful pieces and I never thought I’d find one of their items secondhand for less than $10. I love the way the blue and pink pieces look together and I think the Kate Spade scarf wrapped around my waist as a belt tied (no pun intended) the whole outfit together! Since I’m still in my socks with all types of shoes era, I wore burgundy frilly ones with my white loafers to complete my look.
