Johnathan Motley Wins Karl Malone Award

Baylor’s Johnathan Motley received the Karl Malone award on Friday night, becoming the nation’s top Power Forward. Motley had a brilliant season, averaging 17.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He notched 589 points on the season, nearly doubling the amount from 2014-2016. Motley’s star-studded season included a remarkable performance at Texas where noted a career high 32 points and rebounds. Motley was a unanimous AP All-American Second-Team decision after he recorded 15 double doubles on the season. Motley beat out Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan, UCLA’s T.J. Leaf, Arizona’s Lauri Markkanen and Notre Dame’s Bonzie Colson. Although Motley hasn’t made his decision whether to enter the 2017 NBA Draft, he sure has made Baylor Nation proud in his amazing season!
