Green and Gold with Distressed Denim

A green and gold outfit

Zara sweater, Levi’s jeans, J.Crew shoes (similar here), Madewell bag

The day after the Baylor Men’s Basketball team won the NCAA National Championship for the first time ever, I was on an obvious sports and Baylor high and wanted to wear the most celebratory outfit I could find in my closet! I wasn’t a very outwardly passionate Baylor person when I was actually in Waco (of course I obsessed over the sports programs but not so much the university itself) so I didn’t have a ton of school gear. I think that’s a natural reaction for most Hawaiʻi kids that go to college on the continent as identity crises are easier to have in different environments. Small rant aside, I don’t have many green and gold clothing pieces in my wardrobe because I mainly purchase colors I wear all the time—pink, navy/blue, and cream. Green shows up in different parts of my closet, but green and gold paired together isn’t a combination I often reach for. However on days like this one where my Baylor pride is enormous and I want everyone in my work office to cheer for my favorite Bears (I’ve recruited at least four men), a fully green and gold outfit seemed like the right choice! I picked up this perfect cropped white cardigan with gold flowers and green leaves from Zara because I love wearing cardigans buttoned up as tops or over a tiny camisole or tank top with one button on. I wore the sweater/top with my new favorite pair of jeans (who knew I’d love Levi’s denim this much?)—a high rise straight crop with tears in the knees and ankles. This is my first pair of straight leg jeans and I love how they’re fitted at the waist and thigh and are loose everywhere else. Because the rise is a little lower than my usual pairs, these jeans pair well with longer tops. Another hint of green is found in these beautiful pointed toe green “library” flats in the same shade as the cardigan’s leaves. These are some of my most worn shoes and they especially pop with other hints of green in an outfit. It might be over the top for any every day outfit if I added another green and gold piece, so I finished the outfit with my mom’s loaned Madewell crossbody that holds everything I need (my notebook, credit card, and makeup bag obviously). I love how sturdy this purse is and it completes the look perfectly!
