A lot has changed in my life over the past few months with the main development being my transition from the Office of the Public Defender to my new job. 2.5 years came and went in a flash and I learned and grew more at my old office than I could’ve imagined. Since August I’ve said “see you soon” to many dear friends (read about my last day and shed some tears here), created and decorated my home office where I spend four days a week (see the colorful decor in this post), met with so many new coworkers to learn about where I fit in the company, and purchased more than a few professional office clothing pieces including these four pairs of office appropriate shoes! The Office of the Public Defender isn’t the fanciest place to work so my daily attire reflected the environment. Of course I wore the prettiest dresses I could find on a weekly basis, but I also styled my favorite wide leg jeans and colorful skirts whenever possible. I’d gotten used to a more casual atmosphere, so I knew I’d have to invest in work pants, blouses, and more than one pair of office shoes (make that four pairs!). I added two pairs of tailored pants, a few tops, and one midi skirt as my new clothing pieces, but the shoes are what I’m most excited about!
I purchased the black J.Crew loafers on Poshmark for $30 and they were brand new in the box! Poshmark is basically my favorite place to buy clothes and accessories now. The other three pairs came from Nordstrom Rack since I didn’t want to spend too much money and I knew they’d have a comprehensive offering with each one under $70! Nude, white, and black were my main color frames as they match every outfit and are also the only shades I didn’t currently have in my closet (I prefer bright colors and lots of pink, obviously). Journee Collection’s Lutana Kitten Heel Pump is as comfortable as it is classy and I love how the patent leather isn’t too shiny. The front cutouts and bow make the heels just a little cuter and less “office lady.” Comfortable loafers/flats/mules are my go-to on an every day basis and these Steve Madden Rilynn Chain Loafers look just as high quality as the more expensive ones from Coach! This pair is my current favorite because the Bone color goes with most of the clothes in my wardrobe and and leather is buttery and soft. I like how the chain detail dresses the shoe up for even more fun. The last of my four pairs is Franco Sarto’s Jacer Slingback Pump—the perfect black heel. I enjoy kitten heels more than regular ones now since I prefer flats, and these pumps have a tiny block heel for added interest. I like how the pointed toe is just a tad bit rounded and I know they’ll be essential in my more professional looks!
