The Baylor Football team had several highs and lows throughout the 2022 season with many of the bright spots being individual contributors on the team. One of the team and fan favorites of last year was LB/FB dynamo Dillon Doyle who quickly transitioned from playing as an Iowa Hawkeye in 2018 and 2019 to donning the green and gold from 2020-2022. In his final two years as a Bear, Doyle went from LB to LB/FB catching and rushing for first downs and TDs while assisting the team to the best season/record in program history (2021, we will never forget you) and a pair of bowl games. For his efforts, Doyle was previously named an AP All-Big 12 Second Team pick as the first player in program and league history to be named all-conference at an offensive and defensive position in 2022 and a Phil Steele All-Big 12 Second Team selection. Most recently, Doyle was named a 2023 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society pick for his 3.97 GPA as an MBA graduate student. According to Baylor Athletics’ Jerry Hill (papa), “The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An elite group of 1,734 players from 328 schools qualified for membership in 2023, setting a record for the number of members in a single year during the program’s 17‐year history. Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either:” a senior athlete graduating this spring or summer who completed collegiate participation last year or a graduated athlete who left high school at least 3 years ago; and who attained a minimum GPA of 3.2 and started or significantly contributed to their team throughout 2022. In his three seasons at Baylor, Doyle totaled 225 tackles with 11.5 for a loss of 30 yards, 2 sacks for a loss of 14 yards, 3 interceptions, 8 passes deflected, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery; 9 carries for 18 yards and 1 TD; 3 catches for 6 yards and 2 TDs.
