Disappointing Products #1

As a beauty blogger, I’m always trying out new makeup and beauty bits for posts, but not all of them turn out great. I tend to stray away from the “bad review” especially when products are given to me, but I thought I would share the truth on these literal bad boys.

*As a disclaimer, these products didn’t work on me or my oily, acne prone skin, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t work on you! These reviews are all relative and the products shouldn’t be turned down just because of one review.*

The YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat was my first real big girl purchase, and it turned out to be one of the worst. When I first started wearing a full face of makeup, say around 2 years ago, I didn’t know squat about color matching and foundation types. I thought that a dewy and radiant foundation would go great with my oily skin. Bad idea, Noelle. Besides the wrong foundation type, I was also deceived on my color match! The horrible worker in Sephora matched me a completely wrong shade, which I was too naive to realize until it was too late. When I first started wearing it, this foundation slipped and slid around my face during the humid days of the fall. It’s one of the worst purchases I’ve ever made, especially since I wanted to love it so badly. Continuing with the bases, I bought the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation from my local Target after research on the “best drugstore foundation”. I had tried this one before courtesy of my mother, but the second time around I did not like it. The idea is nice, but the formulation drove me nuts. It oxidized on my skin twice, leaving me with an unpredictable final shade. It wasn’t an expensive foundation, but it did leave me disappointed. NYC Bronzing Face Powder was a raved about bronzer on YouTube and on different beauty blogs, but I absolutely hated it. I’m not very pale, but the bronzer left my skin extremely orange. The formulation is extremely chalky and the packaging is cheap. Even though it was only $4, the product isn’t even worth that. A Sephora brand product I don’t care for is the Natural Eyes Pro Palette Lesson. The eyeshadows are soft and pigmented but they were really hard for me to blend together. Even with the lightest hand, the shadows wouldn’t blend, leaving my under eyes covered in fall out. It’s a shame that that the palette isn’t the best, considering my love for the Sephora brand makeup as a whole. Moving on to lips, I have a Revlon stain that sent me running as far away from it as possible. The Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm was hated by many a beauty blogger and YouTuber. The color selection is quite nice, but the stain’s formula is downright crappy. With a felt tip applicator, the stain goes on patchy and bleeds out around the edges of the lips. The balm included on the other side of the product leaves the lips feeling sticky and a bit waxy, which is very unpleasant. Overall, this is my least favorite product out of the bunch. Last but not least, I have a Rimmel lipstick that I thought would be my perfect berry lip color. The Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Color in 60 looks like the most beautiful berry shade in the bullet, but looks garish against my light-medium skin tone. The lipstick was a bit too creamy and hard to apply. The moisture rich product also emigrated to the outside of my lips, causing a “joker” effect. This lipstick is definitely not my go to out of all the Rimmel lipsticks.
