Last month I read my way through The Best American Poetry and it was fantastic. I’ve been really interested in poetry this year because of my English class and this book is filled with beautiful words and stories. One of my favorite poems in the book is called “You Art A Scholar, Horatio, Speak To It” by Olena Kalytiak Davis. It features a dialogue between (seemingly) two people and the almost Shakespearean language feels light. I enjoy reading books that are told by different narrators and have multiple story lines in it, which is why an anthology of poems is perfect for me.
This month, I’ll be reading Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer. There are four overlapping storylines in the book and although it’s an assignment for English, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it!
