Aloha! My name is Noelle and I’m the face and brain behind This Is Noelle. I started this blog at the end of 2012 when I wanted my own space to create and share pieces of my life. I’m a Hawaiian-Japanese-Chinese-Tongan-Russian-Irish girl from Hawaiʻi and I’m currently working for the Office of the Public Defender and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. When I’m not working, I’m volunteering remotely with College Guild, writing poems, researching social justice issues, or playing music (I play seven instruments: alto saxophone, ukulele, guitar, bass, oboe, harmonica, and Irish whistle!).
I used to mainly blog about beauty, but I’ve gradually transformed into a lifestyle blogger focusing on style, sports, and social justice. My true passions are abolition (PIC, police, military, etc.), poetry, socialism, and high school and college football. I hope to one day become a public defender, start my own reentry program here in Hawaiʻi for people who are released from prison, and run for Senate (I’d love to unseat Brian Schatz!). If any of my previously mentioned topics are of interest to you, have a look around this space and stay in contact with me! Mahalo and a hui hou!
