Aloha! My name is Noelle and I’m the face and brain behind This Is Noelle. I started this blog at the end of 2012 when I wanted my own space to create and share pieces of my life. I’m a Hawaiian-Japanese mixed girl from Hawaiʻi and I’m currently working for the Office of the Public Defender and the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. When I’m not working, I’m on the board of Hawaiʻi Peace & Justice, organizing with the Hawaiʻi Abolition Collective, remotely volunteering with College Guild, writing poems, researching social justice issues, and playing music (I play seven instruments: alto saxophone, ukulele, guitar, bass, oboe, harmonica, and Irish whistle!).
I used to mainly blog about beauty, but I’ve gradually transformed into a lifestyle blogger focusing on style, sports, and social justice. My true passions are Prison Industrial Complex abolition, poetry, Communism, and football. I hope to one day start my own reentry program for people released from prison and write a poetry chapbook. If any of my previously mentioned topics are of interest to you, have a look around this space and stay in contact with me! Mahalo and a hui hou!
