Although I’ve said in the past that I rarely wear dark colors like black anymore (You can see for yourself that I’m way out of my middle school emo phase!), both of my most recent outfit posts featured black items (remember how cute this outfit was?)! Whereas I tend to reach for bright, bold colors in my every day life—even at my very professional workplace—I reach for darker neutrals when I’m styling looks for specific special events. My partner and I went out to dinner for Valentine’s Day (as most do!) and I imagined a particular black and gold look centered around my silk Quince midi dress and my favorite gold heels in the world from Lilly Pulitzer via Poshmark. I’m BIG into layering my clothing items at the moment, so a simple silk dress was not enough for me. The outfit had to have black and gold features throughout the accessories so it truly felt complete! I searched high and low on Poshmark for a sheer or mesh top to layer under the dress, but I was quick out of luck. Thankfully, my favorite brick and mortar store ever—Savers—had this adorable black lace long sleeve top that’s thin enough to wear under absolutely anything. I also purchased a three pack of these Amazon adjustable belts (I know all belts are adjustable, but these change size around the back not through a front clasp/hole!) that came with a thin black and gold one to perfectly match the rest of my accessories. I layered my two new gold necklace and put on all of my favorite rings and bracelets. To finish the look, I wore my oldest favorite Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC!
