Benefit is one of my all time favorite makeup brands, so you can guess my excitement when I received this palette as a gift from a friend! I’ve never tried out any of Benefit’s eyeshadows before, but I’ve always heard amazing reviews of the pigmentation and formula. Let’s jump into the review!
The kit comes with 4 powder and 2 cream shadows. As you can see from the picture above, there is a highlight color, one matte, and two shimmers. The kit also comes with a Tips and Tricks booklet describing day & nighttime looks. I really like the packaging, even though it’s just cardboard. I feel like it’s easy to keep everything neat and travel friendly.
The cream shadows can be used all over the lid as a base or for a sheer wash of color. “Bikini-tini” is a shimmery beige, while “Holy Smokes!” is sort of a taupe color. Both shadows provide longwear without creasing. When I used Bikini-tini under two of the eyeshadows in the kit, they wore up to 12 hours without a smudge or crease! Amazing!
Bikini-tini reminds me of MAC’s Painterly paint pot.
I really love the color of Holy Smokes! The gray is beautiful and very wearable for the day time.

Now on to the powder shadows. Before I received this kit, I had yet to find a purple shadow that I really loved. I don’t really like the bright purples that are easy to find nowadays, and the matte purples can be chalky and hard to work with. Raincheck? is the absolute perfect eggplant shade for the lid or the crease! At a wedding I went to on Saturday, I wore Bikini-tini as a base and then I put Pause for Applause all over my lid, with Raincheck? blended into my crease. I also put a little bit of Milk It! on my brow bone and in my inner corners as a highlight. I found this to be the most gorgeous eye pairing for the Spring and Summer! The powder eyeshadows are incredibly soft and blendable. This is my new favorite eyeshadow kit!
If you are looking at Benefit eyeshadows and are skeptical or worried about spending the money, I would recommend you to buy a kit such as this one. They retail for $30 and they are worth the money! You can get this palette or the two other Neutrals palettes in the line at Sephora!
Have any of you tried Benefit eyeshadows or palettes before? How did they perform on you? Let me know in the comments!
