Baylor Drops 59-25 Decision Against No. 25 Kansas State

The Baylor Football team continued their unfortunate losing streak with a third consecutive defeat, this week’s against No. 25 Kansas State in Manhattan, 59-25, despite recording their first opening drive touchdown on the season. Despite a quick and successful start to the game, the Bears turned the ball over 4 times and gave up 28 points on the turnovers—forfeiting a bowl game appearance for the third time in 14 years. Junior QB Blake Shapen completed 22 of 45 passing attempts for 253 yards with a career-high 4 TDs and his third interception of the season, and added 7 carries. The Bears totaled 332 offensive yards with a low 85 yards rushing compared to No. 25 Kansas State’s 451. Baylor notched 4 penalties for a loss of 45 yards, while Kansas State (7-3, 5-2) had 5 for a loss of 42 yards. Both teams were successful in the red zone as Baylor scored on 3 of 3 attempts and No. 25 Kansas State managed 6 of 6, but the Wildcats out managed Baylor in sacks, notching 3 for a loss of 24 yards while the Bears had 1 for a loss of 10.

The Bears will travel to Fort Worth to face TCU (4-6, 2-5) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (CT).
