Anu Solomon Named Baylor’s Starting QB

Rejoice!! Today, Baylor football head coach Matt Rhule named my favorite kanaka maoli I’ve never met the team’s starting QB. Anu Solomon is a graduate transfer from Arizona where he excelled on the field in his healthier days. A few unshakeable injuries deterred Solomon’s plans as he lost his starting spot on the roster. After his transfer to Baylor in the winter, Solomon immediately competed with fellow QB Zach Smith to redeem himself and earn his spot back. While coach Rhule kept an even playing field with starters under wraps, I always hoped Solomon would win the QB battle. Solomon performed extremely well at Arizona, setting records and wowing fans across the nation. In his career, he completed 555 of 932 attempts for 6,910 yards with 49 TDs and 16 INTs. His mobility and poise under center are probably what gave him the edge over sophomore Smith who started the second half of the 2016 season. Seeing a kanaka lead our football team has been my dream come true ever since I began cheering for Baylor and I’m even more excited for the season to start with Anu at the helm!
