Brandy Melville sweater, Topshop jeans, Cole Haan shoes, Madewell bag
Is there any color more universally flattering and wearable than navy? Okay sure, skeptics may reject that claim in favor of black’s traditionally beloved forms, but I think navy is just as perfect for every outfit as its previously mentioned competition. I’ve recently been searching for the best foolproof thin, slightly cropped sweaters I can wear in every scenario but I was growing increasingly anxious as none of the stores I shopped in had anything resembling a sweater, much less a non-chunky/bulky one! But when I checked my newly beloved Brandy Melville for more cropped tops and any other fun clothing goodies, I picked up this navy blue sweater that’s the most ideal combination of fashion and function! The sweater is different from my other ones, not only because it actually fits me like any pieces tailored to my size and shape would, but also because it can be dressed up for professional settings and down for every day (coincidentally I wear this exact outfit to work with my flats on and no one cares!). I wore this navy sweater with my new favorite pair of pants—true blue skinny denim pants from Toshop that fit like blessed jeans are supposed to! These jeans (and the gray pair I bought) are such perfect pairs that I wish I could wear all the time to every situation. The jeans are buttery soft and stretchy but they don’t easily lose their pants’ shape like the American Eagle ones I used to rave about! I love how the sweater hits right at the top of my jeans and that I don’t feel like I’m busting out of any part of the piece. I wanted to style this outfit with my Cole Haan sneakers I wrote about once for fun. Cole Haan sneakers have always been part of my closet and I love how retro and fun these navy, coral, and beige pair is. To finish the look, I threw everything I own into my already overflowing Madewell tote and ignored all of it until it was time to sit down and write!
