When I was in college, one of my favorite bi-monthly activities was going to get my nails and toes done with Jonathan and Lo at Elegant Nail Spa Waco! I got my first gel manicure ever with Lo who introduced me to the wonders of gel and dip polish and constantly bullied me into having well-kept, colorful nails so she wouldn’t have to look at my horrid natural nails. Jonathan only joined us for the pedicure part, but I still always associate mani/pedis with the two of them. I don’t get mani/pedis anymore aside from the odd times when I’ll go with my mom and/or sister (this was my last salon manicure and it’s my favorite one ever!) and since it’s expensive to have them professionally done, I’ve made DIY attempts of my own every month or so. I hate painting my nails because I tend to smudge them even though they’ve been drying for hours and they chip fairly quickly. This time though, I wanted to go back to the nail salon to have a proper gel manicure painted for our trip to Waco! There’s nothing better than a fresh set of gel nails because although it’s wonderful to paint my own nails as an affordable and easily changed option, gel lasts 3-4 weeks and never chips! Our trip to Waco will consist of a football game and lots of school spirit feelings since I haven’t been back to visit in almost one year, so I wanted to go for a green and gold look. I usually opt for alternating shades on each finger, but this time I thought it would be fun to have all green on one hand and all gold on the other. The gold is shimmery instead of sparkly, so I don’t have to worry about the glitter flaking off as the polish ages. The green shade is also a perfect Baylor color to match all of my spirited outfits. I’m thrilled to have colorful nails as long as they last!
