Elodie top (similar here), American Eagle jeans, LOFT sweater, Cole Haan shoes, Madewell bag
The summertime is finally over somehow (how is it not still March?) and while I’m usually excited to move past the dressing style of this season (no one actually likes wearing shorts and tank tops), I’m actually saddened to put away my bright, thin clothes in favor of slightly darker pieces. I’ve already started dressing for autumnal trends and weather (aka 80 degrees instead of 88 here)—see previous posts here and here—but I’m not giving up any chance to wear a colorful look before they become inappropriate during fall. My favorite summertime colorful look was this smocked mint green dress with purple and yellow florals that would transition well to fall with the right camel accessories! For this, the last colorful look, I highlighted the pastel yellow checkered smocked top because I think it makes my boobs look great and it’s a cute picnic blanket-inspired pattern, which is the essence of summertime. I wore my favorite American Eagle true blue jeans because why not; they’re extremely comfy, stretchy, and match with any look! So I can wear this top to work, I cover up with a thin white LOFT cardigan, which is actually way too long on my short torso, so I pulled both ends together, tucked the back portion in itself, and tied the front ends into a small knot at my natural waist. Tying a cardigan or belt either under the chest or around the waist is a simple way to emphasize curves without any extra bulky fabric. My white Cole Haan leather mules match the top and sweater perfectly and I finish this colorful look with a neutral basic in the form of my beloved Madewell tote. Now back to regularly scheduled programming…give me all the dark colors and patterns!
