A Call Me By Your Name Sequel Announcement

Call Me By Your Name

I’ve been obsessed with Call Me By Your Name, the novel masterpiece by André Aciman and then the cinematic monument by Luca Guadagnino and James Ivory (featuring the beautiful combination of Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer) since I initially watched the movie last March (and instantly gave up love forever after the viewing!), so you can imagine my excitement when the world learned Aciman would publish a sequel in the fall! Find Me is the title of the Call Me By Your Name sequel set to be released on October 29 with the description, “In Find Me, Aciman shows us Elio’s father Samuel, now divorced, on a trip from Florence to Rome to visit Elio, who has become a gifted classical pianist. A chance encounter on the train leads to a relationship that changes Sami’s life definitively. Elio soon moves to Paris where he too has a consequential affair, while Oliver, now a professor in northern New England with sons who are nearly grown, suddenly finds himself contemplating a return visit to Europe.” I have all of the feelings!!! My elation is running wild because I wished the Call Me By Your Name film included the last 40 pages of Aciman’s novel where Elio and Oliver meet once again as older men, admitting their love for each other had remained throughout their lives. I know. It doesn’t get any more romantic than that. Although Aciman is focusing more on Elio’s dad in the second book (which also devastated me to hear that he and Anela were divorced!), I’m hoping that we’ll have more Elio and Oliver moments where they hopefully end up together as they should have in both Call Me By Your Name and in the film. I already knew that 2019 would be thrilling due to my graduation, premier of Us, final season of Game of Thrones, and the possibilities in my future, but now I can add the joy of an unexpected Call Me By Your Name continuation!
