2017 Baylor Football Depth Chart

The Baylor football post-spring depth chart features new starters and unfamiliar names. The list was released at the Big 12 Media Days last week, which should excite and pump up all Baylor football fans! The most obvious struggle the team will have is with their lack of experience on offensive line. The Bears lost multiple OL to graduation or early retirement this offseason, which consolidated an already thin depth of men in the trenches. Former TE Sam Tecklenburg moves to C with the departures of Kyle Fuller and Tanner Thrift. Newbies Mo Porter and Tyrae Simmons have their chances to shine as they take over their starting positions. Unsurprisingly, nearly every OL will be backed up by incoming freshmen Ryan Miller, Xavier Newman, and Henry Klinge III. I had the opportunity to meet each of those young men during recruiting and I can assure all that they are massive enough to start. Former Baylor basketball star Ish Wainright will also have a bit of playing time throughout the season at second team TE. I’m sure all Baylor fans would love an Ish TE whenever possible! In the QB battle it seems as though sophomore Zach Smith gets the QB1 title while my favorite Anu Solomon and frosh Charlie Brewer are interchangeable as backups. I can’t wait to see Anu in action. At defense, we see the returns of DE K.J. Smith and Brian Nance along with FS Taion Sells. I’m excited to see how DC Phil Snow uses each of his men in a new defensive scheme! Okay, I really can’t wait any longer can it be football season already?
